User centred design

User-Centred Design is a way of working which encourages the balance of both a business' targets, with the aims and expectations of the target audience. It's a methodology which has been used in product design for a long time, and is gaining much traction in the realm of designing for the web, mobile and software.

It is an iterative process, which allows those involved in a project to analyze what the goals of a user (customer) are, and how to best help a user meet them. Doing this should ultimately help a business achieve its goals. It is also a great way of benchmarking your project, to ensure its core focus is maintained throughout.

Dean Vipond has been employing this methodology for a few years now. It is scalable, so employing user-centred elements into a project which is urgent, or which has a limited budget, is still very much possible.
