Working with theatre group Unlimited, experimental storytelling agency Storythings, and University of Dundee, I helped design a new way of experiencing play scripts. Research told us that the traditional layout of play scripts was alienating to people outside the theatre world. How could we design a way of reading scripts more fluently, as well is give a deeper experience of the play’s production?
We tested different methods of reading with people, using paper prototypes, and optimised a version to be made in code. Working with Unlimited’s lighting and sound designer, we produced an iPad-optimised web interface, which presented a more fluid reading experience, as well as an ambient audio/visual experience.
